Seeking Dedicated Board Members 

The French River Senior Housing Project is a visionary initiative to provide comfortable, safe, and affordable housing solutions for seniors in our community. As we continue to grow and expand our impact, we seek passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors. If you are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and contributing to the enhancement of our community, we invite you to express your interest in becoming a valued member of our Board. The Board composition will involve members of Council and the community. An Oversight Agreement will be prepared to provide the Municipality to be involved in the building management. 

It is anticipated the construction will begin in May 2024, with occupancy in spring or early summer of 2025. 

About Us: The French River Senior Housing Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the housing needs of senior citizens in our region. Our mission is to create a vibrant, supportive, and inclusive community where seniors can thrive in their golden years. Through collaboration with local stakeholders, government agencies, and community members, we aim to develop innovative housing solutions that prioritize affordability, accessibility, and quality of life for seniors.

Role of Board Members:

Board members play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of our organization and ensuring that we fulfill our mission effectively. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Council and the development team in construction design and implementation of building oversight.
  • Providing leadership and governance oversight to the organization.
  • Participating in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Advocating for the needs of seniors and promoting our mission within the community.
  • Fostering relationships with stakeholders, donors, and partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting fundraising and resource development efforts.

Ideal Candidate Profile: 

We are seeking individuals who possess the following qualities:

  1. Passion for serving seniors and improving the quality of life for older adults.
  2. Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  3. Leadership experience in the non-profit sector, housing development, or related fields.
  4. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  6. Knowledge of local community needs and resources (preferably in the French River region).
  7. Willingness to dedicate time and energy to board meetings, committees, and special projects.
