Disaster Recovery Assistance program available for French River.

The Province of Ontario has activated the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program to help eligible residents, small businesses, farms and not-for-profit organizations affected by this year's flooding.

If you experienced flood-related damage, review the eligibility requirements and prepare to apply beginning July 17. Financial assistance may be available for eligible emergency expenses, essential repairs and replacement of essential property not covered by insurance.

How to apply
  1. Read the program guidelines.
  2. Understand the eligibility caps on household items.
  3. Complete an application form:
  4. Collect supporting documents such as:
    • a letter from your insurance provider detailing your coverage
    • receipts or invoices for items and repairs you’ve already paid for
    • estimates or quotes for repairs that still need to be done
    • records that show the number of hours spent on your emergency cleanup
    • photographs of damage to your property
    • proof of residence (driver’s license, Ontario photo card, etc.)
    • a copy of your most recent property tax bill (if you’re a homeowner)
    • a copy of the most recent notice of assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency for every adult in your household (if you qualify as a low-income household)
  5. Keep copies of your application form and supporting documents.
  6. Submit your application form and supporting documents to us.
